Role of Participating Schools

  1. Put up posters and banners provided by the organisers or related materials designed by school / students
  2. Issue a notice to parents informing them that the school will organise a series of activities for the 'Joyful Fruit Day'. All teachers and students will eat fruit together on that day.
  3. Take part in the following activities on a voluntary basis:
    1. Campus Fruit Party
    2. 'Fruit‧Sweet‧Home' Model Making Competition
    3. Joyful Fruit Day Billboard Competition
    4. Other supporting activities


Details of Recommended Activities

Activity Date/Period Details
(1) Campus Fruit Party 27 April 2011 or any day agreed by the school / institution
  • All teachers and students may share fruit together during tea break.
  • Encourage parents to eat fruit with their children on the same day by promoting the event at school as well as issuing a notice to parents.
(2) 'Fruit Diary Card' Award Scheme Throughout the 2010/2011 school year
  • Distribute Fruit Diary Cards and Fruit Stickers provided by the event organiser to every student. Schools could contact Fruit Day Secretariat at 2117 3844 for additional resources.
  • Introduce an award scheme for students who complete the 'Fruit Diary Card' satisfactorily.
  • Involve parents by asking them to put a sticker on the 'Fruit Diary Card' to record fruit consumption behaviour of their children. Institutions may even distribute a certificate of commendation designed by the event organizer or develop their own mode of appreciation for students
(3) 'Fruit Ambassadors' By 27 April 2011
  • Distribute Fruit Ambassador Stickers provided by the organiser to all students. Schools can contact Fruit Day Secretariat at 2117 3844 for additional resources.
  • Empower students to promote daily fruit intake among family members, schoolmates and friends by giving them specially designed stickers (provided by event organiser).

  1. Schools are encouraged to provide an URL (usually website of their schools), which contains snapshots or descriptions of Joyful Fruit Day' events in their schools. The event organiser will then build a hyperlink to 'Joyful Fruit Day' thematic website.
  2. Participating schools can also contribute by sharing events' stories and photos with the Joyful Fruit Day Secretariat for development of an e-newsletter. Such information should be sent by email to with the subject of 'Materials for e-newsletter'.


Details of Registration and Participation

  1. Schools interested in taking part in any of the above activities may register online for the event before 5 p.m. on 30 November 2010. Materials will be distributed before the end of January 2011. Schools registered after this day will receive a notice for collection of the resources and materials at Unit A3, 8/F, Kin Tak Fung Industrial Bldg, 174 Wai Yip Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon by school staff.

  3. To make earlier collection of materials, schools should contact the Joyful Fruit Day Secretariat of the Department of Heath at 2117 3844 and send their staff to Unit A3, 8/F, Kin Tak Fung Industrial Bldg, 174 Wai Yip Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon for collection.
  4. The Joyful Fruit Day Secretariat will confirm schools within 72 hours for their registration by email or fax.
