Many unhealthy snacks are available on the market, and their excessive consumption would not only spoil schoolchildren's appetite for main meals but schoolchildren would also unknowingly take in snacks with high fat, high salt and high sugar, which eventually increases their risk of overweight or obesity and developing chronic diseases. To create a more healthy school environment, both schools and parents have to:
- Reflect school pursue on nutrition quality clearly to school snack suppliers
- Monitor nutrition quality of school snacks on a regular basis
- Document results of snack monitoring in an objective manner, and feedback these results to the snack supplier for quality improvement
- Snacks brought by students should NOT belong to the group "Snacks to choose less"
