Buying and Cooking Tips
The best green soybeans with pods should be vibrant green, plump and upright, with a fuzzy, bright surface but few brownish red spots and no cracks. Those without pods should be plump and bright. Green soybeans are suitable for cooking using methods such as boiling, stewing, steaming, blanching, salad-making and stir-frying with less oil. Note: Beans should not be consumed raw. They must be cooked thoroughly to remove the natural toxins, thereby reducing the risk of food poisoning and gastrointestinal discomfort.
Fun Facts
Do you know what is the relationship between green soybeans, soybeans and natto? Green soybeans become soybeans when they ripen. Fermented with natto bacteria, they will then become natto, a traditional Japanese food with a strong taste and a sticky texture! In addition, beans can easily cause bloating and gastrointestinal discomfort. Therefore, individuals with weaker digestive functions are not recommended to consume too many beans at once.
